Feminists, if y'all are so into equality, what's the word on that equal rights amendment? Y'all don't seem to mention that anymore.?

Update:

Also, why don't you seem to care about 'legal' equality anymore? It's just 'social, political and economic' and, of course, those nipples.

Update 2:

Also, any word on when you plan on doing something to give men the legal right to genital integrity, to deciding whether or not they are (legally) parents (just like women can), the legal right to NOT be sent to war against their will (just like women have), shorter sentencing (just like women enjoy) and fair wording of the FBI's rape law?

Update 3:

Ctrl+Alt+Dlt

I've watched over a thousand YouTube videos and they never mention it except once Laci Green mentioned it and once some other no-name feminist mentioned it. It's not an issue they care about. It's not even in their definition anymore. They don't care. That one tiny little group has it as their central theme means as much to me as the idea that some feminists are pro-vegan.

Update 4:

A 1000 YouTube FEMINIST videos.

Update 5:

Also, I've BEEN to NOW and checked that out already. They don't want the ERA passed. What they want is (read it carefully when you go there again) a guarantee of 'equality for women'.

Update 6:

Neil, how does that stop feminists everywhere else from talking about it? They still talk about how much they hate Republicans. Why can't they bring up the ERA? Is there a cosmic spell in place that prevents it? Are the Republicans wizards?

Update 7:

Ctrl+Alt+Dlt, actually, I hadn't read that far into your post yet but I've already been down this road. N.O.W. doesn't want the ERA passed. I've been to the place you're sending me. Yes, N.O.W. is quite large and powerful in feminism and it's NOT pushing for the ERA

Update 8:

Ctrl+Alt+Dlt:

"Although we did not succeed in ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment, winning a constitutional guarantee of equality for women remains one of NOW’s top priorities."

-----"...a constitutional guarantee of equality for women...."

------do you see the sex bias in the wording there? They've given up on the actual ERA. You can tell by the way they've reworded what they're after. They're not saying "We're still trying to pass the ERA.".

Update 9:

See, C+A+D, if they are so careful about language that they can see 'microaggressions' in everything, they can sure as hell figure out that "We support the ERA" and "We support a constitutional guarantee of equality for women" are NOT the same thing. If they wanted to support the ERA, they'd talk about the E.... R.... A. It's basic kindergarten stuff.

I'm pretty sure that most American feminist organizations are indeed still working on getting an equal rights amendment passed.

I've placed a link in my source section to the National Organization for Women's list of issues that they are focused on. One of them is the ratification of an Equal Rights Amendment.

    Edit:

I can only assume you're not American if you think N.O.W. is a "tiny" organization. They are the main feminist organization in the U.S. I also have to assume that you are mentally deficient if you believe that YouTube videos by people claiming to be feminists are more significant than the actual political actions of the main feminist organization in the U.S.

    Edit:

I read it too, and they are indeed pushing for constitutional equality for women...which is what the ERA was. I'm not sure where your confusion is coming from, or if this is just a case of you using wording and semantics to keep from admitting what it actually says on their site.

Here is what it says on the site:

"Equality in pay, job opportunities, political structure, social security and education will remain an elusive dream without a guarantee of equality in the U.S. Constitution. The progress we have made — and must continue to make — towards women’s equality can be lost at any time because those advances depend on legislation that can be (and has been) weakened or repealed by Congress. Although we did not succeed in ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment, winning a constitutional guarantee of equality for women remains one of NOW’s top priorities."

Your added details says that feminists don't care about legal equality anymore, but this post on N.O.W.'s website proves your claim to be false.

I'm taking it this is a US question, since in most Countries there are already equality-amendments.

In the US it's simple, Republicans have the House, and the Senate, the chances of getting one, or having a constructive discussion on it, is 0%.

    Is that something American?

Sorry can't help you with that. I'm not American. We don't do Amendments here.

As feminists we worked hard to win many entitlements. Of course we won't endorse something that would threaten to make all those entitlements for women illegal.
