The Washington Post says Ted is not eligible, but McCain was born in Panama and ran?
WP says Cruz is not natural born, but John McCain was born in Panama and was the Republican presidential nominee. Both had American mothers that filed the necessary paperwork and were never considered a citizen of that country. The only difference was Cruz held dual citizenship, but he filed to reject his Canadian acceptance.

McCain's situation is Not the same as Ted Cruz.
McCain had Two American Citizen Parents and was born at a US Military Hospital while his father was stationed there as an active military man. That (legally) is like being on American soil.
Though born in Canada, Cruz's mother is a natural born American Citizen and as such Ted Cruz is also, according to Law.
I hope you can understand that simple but relevant difference.
How that plays out as regards the limits on who can hold the office of President according to the Constitution may not be a settled issue so we will likely have to see what the Courts have to say about this issue.
Any Fool can Speculate. What becomes established law and Constitutionally accepted should be settled by the Congress and by the Supreme Court.
You can just KNOW the Democrats will use that issue if Cruz becomes the Nominee of the GOP.

McCain was born on a US air base in the Panama Canal Zone. The Airbase would be US territory. And also, both McCain's parents were US citizens.
Totally not the same thing as Cruz.

McCain was actually born on the US military base in the canal zone, which is considered US territory.
Cruz was born in Canada, not on a US base. Now his mother was thought to be a US citizen at the time but some new information out claims that she took a job with the Canadian government prior to Ted's birth and when she did she renounced her US citizenship. If that turns out to be true then Ted was not born a US citizen.

As the article honestly points out, it's a matter of common law, not statute law. There are arguments to be made on both sides. No one person's opinion is definitive.
My feeling is that if Cruz was clearly not a 'natural born citizen', there would have been a lawsuit by now from his opponents to disqualify him. His sponsors wouldn't have spent the money.
It would make more difference to me if I believed Ted had a prayer of winning. I don't think he does. He's locked in a full-on battle with Trump over what is really a small minority of American voters.

McCain, whose parents were both US citizens, were living on a Military base in Panama. McCain's father was a naval officer. Cruz, was born in Canada, to a Cuban father and they were not part of the US military.

McCain's parents were living on a US Base, she was & always has been American, as is his father. Being born on a military base is automatic US Citizen, to an American mother, automatic. I am not a McCain fan, but the truth is the truth. Cruz's mother was a Canadian citizen & had even voted in Canada. They say dual, but I don't think you can vote if you are dual. Obviously, I am not a Cruz fan either, but no one knows the truth, because he is most likely not eligible.

The Washington Post is about as close to Redneck Heaven as a newspaper can get. It omits important facts to make the stories it run seem plausible, and in one recent case blatantly lied to slant the story to the right.
The Washington Post is where the phrase "Don't let the truth stand in the way of a good story" was coined.

In 2008, the US Senate proposed & passed Resolution 511 which "rendered" McCain a Natural Born citizen even though he wasn't....
They no longer have the votes to do that with Little Teddy! :(
