Cleaning up after hoarders buisness start up?

Wondering what it would take besides the typical haz mats and respirators and stuff to start one of those buisnesses where you clean up after hoarders? Like insurance wise and stuff

Yes - that would make a great business. Anything where other people might be afraid is always a good field (if you aren't afraid to do some work and see some sickening stuff).

I'd run down to County Health and talk to the people down there. They're paid by tax money to give you information. So they could start you out finding out what you'd need to know.

You'd be running into several dangers like AIDS and other blood-born pathogens - black mold (Stachybotrys) - asbestos removal and disposal - meth labs and all sorts of incredibly lethal stuff. So you just learn how to field these in official - provable - ways.

Seems like it could be a fun business. I've done a lot of that myself except I had no special training or licensing. I just did it. But if you go the route - get the licenses, permits and wear the expensive breathing mask.......... you can make some Good Money.

Yes, you will need insurance, someone to train your workers, health programs and physicals for the workers including vaccinations, equipment to do training (like for the respirators), and other things. It will take up front money similar to an asbestos abatement company, but without the licenses required. You will also need contracts with waste companies or landfills and even contracts with hazardous waste companies since there will be that problem in the houses. To start, it might be best to work for a company already doing it. A similar type of company is one that cleans up after crime scenes. Call your local coroner and see if they know of any local.
