Duncan gave a good answer, I just want to say that this question sounds like you're not clear about what each of them are.

.com will host a free wordpress blog for you, but you cannot use themes beyond the offered ones, and no plugins (unless you upgrade to the paid service).

.org offers the software for download, so you can put in on hosting you got elsewhere.

The two don't really compare, is what I'm saying.

It's like asking whether I prefer McDonald's or ground beef.

wordpress.org if you want to own your website. wordpress.com is free, but your site can get shut down as WP owns/hosts it.

Your question is unclear.

Usually if the names are almost the same, one is real, and one is a Nigerian, Russian, or Chinese scam. In this case they are bith real. If you just take 20 seconds you can "whois" check any site.

Wardpress.com (notice the spelling difference 'Wa' , not 'Wo') was a now defunct Chinese scam site that was a visual clone of the real site.

What do you want to do with it? If you are paying for hosting now go with .org which is more flexible. If not go with .com to start with - you can always move it to a .org site if you want to host it yourself later.
