I feel the same way now that I transferred to a university where the school seems more like a business (care more about getting money). I went to a community college for my first 1-2 years to save money (the same teachers were teaching @a university at the time). The classes are the same but WAY CHEAPER & different book covers. I loved it there more than I thought I would & people are much nicer. I guess it depends on the school, though..If you are not sure what you want to major in& you did not get a scholarship to the university you want to go to, then you should go to a community college to finish the core. You do not have to get an associate, but it will be best to be core complete according to the state (so you don't have to take the university core). Core includes: 2 science, 2 math, 2 history, 2 government, 2 english, 1 humanity, 1 creative arts etc..The core curriculum for each school is usually 42 units, but this is the main core for every school. Some schools may require a language or literature etc..Check with the school & make sure to take classes that transfer. Usually there is a transfer equivalency guide. If you do not want to go to a community colleg, then I perfectly understand. There are jobs that do not need a 4 years degree, and only need a 2 year diploma or just a certification. Taking off time to work is not a bad idea either, but I would strongly recommend taking 3-5 classes that are part of the core for $600-$1000. Equivalent to one class at a university. ;) It doesn't hurt to take core since it will be classes that you will use for any degree at any school. Some amazing associate degrees: engineering, nursing, graphic design (decent salary), dental hygiene, computer science, paramedic, vet technician, medical certifications, pharmacy technician (just requires a test & no classes needed) etc..Wokring experience is honestly more important, but a degree is very valuable in today's world. My point is that it would be best to go to school part-time if you want to work. I feel that you should get a great associate or certification if you want to take off some time (at least). Make sure it is a good degree & not a crummy one if you do choose to go get a temporary associate or certification, but a bachelor's degree is best. I wish you all the best & believe me I completely understand. I felt the same way when I was graduating high school also & this is why I wrote you such a long message ;) By the way, I am a business girl & even though I may make millions one day, I am still in school & you should too. It is always good to have a backup degree. Another thing, college is way better than high school! I was also someone who was bullied & I never had that problem at a community college. You may really like college & you should try it out :) It is way WAY different & you have a lot of freedom.

You can also take classes for 5 weeks or 8 weeks instead of a whole semester. Things are very different in college ;) I was only able to do that a community college so far, though. It doesn't even say on the transcript that it was a 5 week class & it just says that it is a regular 3 unit class/whole semester regular time class. Just some things to think about ;) It is overwhelming to start at such a huge university at first, so I would recommend starting at a community college. I don't think it is a waste of time & money if you are going for the right degree & taking the right classes. A degree/piece of paper is pretty valuable in the workforce & a certification is even more valuable.

answer after me is right..You can actually get an associate while in high school!!! You can do a dual program or some amazing technical school..Look into it hun ;) life is full or opportunities.

It depends. If there is room for advancement at the job without a degree, you could be fine. However, many places only have room for advancement if you have higher schooling.

If you can find a good paying job ($20 plus /hour) and can see yourself doing it for the rest of your life, do it if it is what you want.

Just don't take a minimum job wage and expect to be able to move up the ladder. In many cases, lack of higher education will be used to stop you from advancing.

    Good luck,

If you can AFFORD college, DEFINITELY go to college. I always thought that college is a trash during high school, looking at some useless YouTube video. President Obama said, "college is one of the highest investment you can think of."

Well, it is. THAT IS!!!! If you can afford college. That is, if you think you can pay back your college loan (in case you can't pay off college payment). Because in college, you really have time to think about what you want to do. You meet people of your same interest. And sometimes, college is a trash. Yes. But during that trashy period, you still get something out of it. You might think, "politics is what i want to do!"

But after 2 years of college, you will change your mind and say, "no business is the right path." You know what i mean? College puts you in the right direction, even though it may be useless. And who knows, you might go abroad and get a job. That requires a degree no matter what. Education area absolutely requires a degree.

Problem is: everyone, and most of the things are not education and are filled with business. McDonald is business. Samsung, Apple, Google are all business. They want competent experts, not some dummy with one B.A. degree. Of course, the top notches want BOTH degree AND competent people. Which again proves my point that you need a degree.

NOW. Let me tell you the reality of why people COMPLAIN about college. You get 4 years of education. You pay all that $$$$. And you get a degree. If you get into Google, if you get into school and become a teacher, become a doctor, degree is 100% worth it. But question is, what % of people get those prestigious jobs?? At your school, did you see a teacher go, "umm umm uhh yeah like um." They look for really good teachers. And for doctors, they want good doctors. These days, jobs are competitive. That means after college graduation, about 50-60-70% of the people will graduate with nothing. YOU may graduate with a college degree with college debt and say, "umm what do i do now? I'm not a doctor or anything."

From here, you will start applying to something called 'intern program.' Where you work for FREE or almost for free to get something to write on your resume. This is the problem we face. Companies don't even need to hire full time employees because there's so many competent people for free interns (where it isn't even guaranteed for you if you don't properly study in college).

Do you know where I'm getting at? This is why people say college is a trash can. And all you'll do in college (as people say) is drink. And you will meet people, you will drink a lot. So, my point is, you've got to make a good decision.

I am saying college is worth it because if you don't get a college degree, that doesn't mean you'll be the President of US. You'll get a minimum wage job working all night with no friends. Why not go to college and have the best 4 years of your life and get a boyfriend or girlfriend? At least for 4 years? If you can afford it.

Why not get it so that if people ask you, you can say, "I went to this college. What about you?" I would feel weird if someone asks you what college did you go to and you say, "uhh i only went to high school...."

Economy is tough so if you're not skilled, it doesn't matter if you went to college or not. OR even now. If you don't have the skills, you don't have it.

So just make a good decision. My choice: i say go to college.
