Can you permanently alter an .mp3 with a full graphic equalizer / mixer?
One of my friend recorded a few songs and sent me a copy of the files. He told me to play around with it, including the music he made. I am wondering, can I take the audio file he sent me and tune it with a full graphic equalizer, then save with the new settings?
If so, what are some good programs I can use? Free or amateur level <$50

free software: http://audacityteam.org/
it has a graphical eq option under effects->equalization(tick the graphical eq radial button within that prompt).
I believe it would save the settings since that's the purpose of the software.
