  • Need a thug-proof way to keep trespassers from parking in my yard. Any suggestions?

My driveway is in the back alleyway. Our yard is slim and half of it is driveway so we use the yard as an angled parking lot. The problem is that people keep parking in our yard, and usually we don't park at the bottom but sometimes we need the room. Whatever we put there needs to be movable so we can park other cars when people come over.

It's several different people parking there. I live in a hood (not a neighborhood because these people cant be considered neighbors) so:

I can't have them towed or ticketed or my tires get slashed.

    Reflective driveway markers get stolen.

Wooden fences in the area get tagged by kids and are expensive.

Concrete blocks end up either stolen or in our windshields.

Boulders aren't movable for when guests come over.

Chain link fencing attract kids, which leads to playing on our vehicles, scratching them.

Can't put up a sign that says "do not park here yada yada" because it just gets tagged by kids.

My only other thoughts are to use a railroad tie, which blocks about 2 parking spaces, and can be moved. Or fake bushes with a concrete block inside to keep from blowing away. Do you guys have any other suggestions?? It really sucks living in this hood so taking it to the internet means I've exhausted my ideas. I really appreciate any ideas.

  • Drivers side wheel makes a swishing sound?

My one wheel makes a swishing sound in accordance to wheel speed, not engine speed. Recently my car had the steering rack, control arms, tie rods/ball joints, brake calipers taken off to put in a new frame. Recently axles have been clicking and leaking as well.

The sound goes away when taking a hard left turn. It's not as loud when accelerating. The vehicles pulls slightly to the left when coasting, and slightly right when accelerating.

Any ideas what this could be? My guess is bearings, axles, or brake pads dragging on warped rotor.

  • Can you permanently alter an .mp3 with a full graphic equalizer / mixer?

One of my friend recorded a few songs and sent me a copy of the files. He told me to play around with it, including the music he made. I am wondering, can I take the audio file he sent me and tune it with a full graphic equalizer, then save with the new settings?

If so, what are some good programs I can use? Free or amateur level <$50

  • My rear passenger side brake keeps locking up when I push even slightly on the pedal?

So I just moved to college and a week later I'm coming from a parking lot and hit the brake lightly. My rear passenger side brake was skidding. I got to another parking lot and checked the tires. They were 40 psi (maybe from altitude change?) I thought that was the reason so I lowered them to about 35 and continued driving but it still skidded the one tire so I opened up the brake fluid reservoir and it was full, the float was up. Then it started working afterwards. It hasn't done it since, but I"m still afraid it will do it again.

Any ideas why this happened? Could the 2500 ft altitude change cause pressure in the braking system that left when I opened the cap?

Or is it a mechanical problem that I could fix with a new part or some grease? I would really like to know and appreciate all input.

  • Why are so many dimes missing a mint mark?

I was counting my change jar then I noticed a 1968 coin with no mint mark. Then about 30 others from the 60's and 70's without a mint mark. I don't think they're rare at all, but why don't they have the mark?

  • Clutch out AGAIN?

My clutch was replaced when the odo hit 155,000 miles. I had been driving it for 12k miles. Now, at about 157,000 miles, it doesnt want to shift into gear. Reverse is grinding. The pedal has been very slowly been getting softer since 1500 miles ago. How did this happen so quick? I changed the master and slave cylinder, throwout bearing, clutch disc, hydraulic lines. Is it just air? Can it be bled, or will the problem reoccur shortly after? This is stressful because I"m only 18, not in college, and already spent $600 when the clutch went out 6 months ago.

  • He that killeth a man shall be put to death? Explanation?

I get the quote. But if we are not allowed to kill people, then who is in charge of executing the murderers? Wouldn't that make the executioner a murderer too? Then he would have to be put to death, and so on.

  • What is the worst ChaCha answer you ever received?

We all know chacha is being a little stupid lately, but what's the absolute worst answer you've ever received from them? Mine was this:

Q: What's the chemical formula for acetone?

A: Saddam Hussein was killed June 30th, 2009 (which was completely wrong)

  • Cell phone service stopped?

So since like 2am this morning, everybody has been getting between 0 and 1 bars of service. My friends, my family, even people in other towns. What's going on? Do they have to shut off the tower for maintenance or what? To send a message, I have to hold my phone up, and put my other hand above it cupped like a little dish to feng shui the signal or something. Kind of like how you can change radio signal by moving your arms and position. But why is this happening now? It's been 12 hours and still terrible service.

  • Difficulty giving jump starts to cars?

So my Ford Ranger is a 93, 4 cylinder small engine, and quite the trooper. I get the occasional call "Are you busy? Come give me a jump." But lately my jumpstarts haven't been working. I hook up the cables correctly, and my battery is big enough for a 1500 truck. Twice the size of my friends car batteries. Why has it been failing? I've noticed that all my jumpstarts are with problematic old pontiac. Grand-Ams. Is that the reason?

My cables go from my Red to their Red, my Black to their engine block. That's correct, isn't it?

  • Vibrating rattle coming from exhaust?

My old '93 Ranger is a stickshift, and on a lot of the RPM's it will have this terrible rattle coming from the exhaust. It gets great gas mileage, the power i expect from a 4cyl, is it rusted out muffler hangers or what? It only rattles til I get to the upper rpms of the gear. I'm guessing this has something to do with air flow or backflow or something? What's causing the rattle?

  • Why do we rate looks on 0 to $2 scale instead of 1-10?

Me and my friends have always rated people's looks on a 0-$2 scale, just for fun. Major lowballers too. $1.65 is probably our highest so far. Even the girls jump in on it and rate strangers with us. It's more popular to us than using 1-10. This is one of those frivolous questions we see so many of on this website. But it's 2:15 in the morning and my mind is wandering. Would you rate people on it too?

  • Temporary ABS light after skidding, why?

I drive a 1993 Ford Ranger. It probably has an old, not-so-good ABS system. I know the first one was built in the late 50's but still. I was on county roads (paved asphalt) and a deer was walking down the middle of the highway. I braked hard (firmly at first, then realized i needed more deceleration fast), and I was skidding like I would expect from an older ABS system. I slowed down to 20 mph and the deer ran out of the way, so i continued. My ABS light was on, and as i was driving towards a small country town 2 miles away so I lightly checked my brakes and they worked fine. But the light was on. So I pulled into a gas station lot and got out for a while. Maybe it was overheating, or brake dust, or something like that so I waited 2 or 3 minutes then got back in. The light stayed off and my brakes still worked fine. Why did the light come on, and should I be concerned?

  • amplifier: speaker output broken, headphone jack works?

I have this secondhand amplifier. It turns on, plays discs, and if you plug in headphones, it works great. But the 5+1 speaker/subwoofer output doesn't work at all. I've tried plugging in one or all, nothing works. The fan is on the same board as the output, and the fan won't turn on either. I've tried cleaning it with a dust rag (it was VERY dusty) and still nothing. Is there something wrong like maybe a dead resistor or something? I don't know what to do with it.

  • How can I hook up speakers to power source?

So i have one side speaker, one center speaker, and one subwoofer. They don't have any jacks, but I do have a 3.5mm jack from my ipod to wires. I also have wires from a power source. I have the wires to connect the ipod, speakers, and power cable all together. But I don't know exactly how to do it. I don't want to do trial and error, it might burn my ipod battery.

  • Why is she so jealous?

So I'm only 16, and I don't have a job. But I still stay pretty busy. It's summer, and I'm out with friends, or running errands, shooting, hunting. I try to stay in touch with her when I can, texting throughout the day, and I call her once or twice daily.

o when I get home from the 95 degree weather with the air literally steaming, I want to get on Skype and talk to some of my other friends I haven't talked to. On Skype, I talk to them from 11pm to around 3 in the morning. My girlfriend is jealous and angry and says I have a problem. I only chat with them at night when nobody else is talking with me or them. Most of them are girls, but they're friends at most.

Why is my girlfriend so jealous? Should I not talk to my Skype buddies anymore? I love my girlfriend and everything, but I think she's overreacting very impudently.

  • Age 16 girlfriend is a child who won't listen. What to do?

Me and her are both 16. She is just a child sometimes. She's changed a lot, I admit. But she keeps falling into her careless habits. Nothing treacherous, but still bad for a personality or relationship. When she's with friends at 10:00pm, she's out walking around yelling and being loud and laughing boisterously. It annoys the neighborhood and the people walking around. I keep telling her to keep others in consideration before you act. She gets offended by it and gets hurt feelings, instead of actually listening to what I'm trying to tell her.

By the way, I don't mean to be an over-dramatic perfectionist. There are more problems. I can deal with those, nobody can be perfect. This is just the one that bugs me the most, that I've been trying to get rid of for over a year. Just overall, she acts like a child sometimes.
