Fafsa household size?
I am 25, legally independent, have no children of my own, and live in a household with my mother and sister, but when I put in my household size as 3 members, the form gave me this error message:
You said that the student is not married, and the student does not have children or legal dependents, but you reported that the student's number of family members is greater than one. Change one of the following answers.
Even though there are 3 people including me in my household, do my mother and sister not count in the number of family members?

Your household, for financial aid purposes, is not the number of people who live in your house--it's the number of people for whom you are providing more than 50% of the support. You're getting an error message because you told the form that you're not supporting any dependents, but your household is 3. If you are providing more than half the support for your mother and sister, then correct the question that asks if you are supporting a dependent to "yes". If you aren't supporting your mother and sister, then correct your household number to 1.

You are not supporting them. They are not dependent on you. You do not declare them as dependents on your taxes.
