Cat possible Maine coon mix?
Hello!
I've had my cat Marshmallow for ten years now. He's a huge part of my life and he's my baby <3
Today the cable guy came. marsh was all up in his stuff sniffing his bags and messing with his tools. I apologized and picked him up. He said it was no problem and started talking about how he used to raise Maine coons. I started telling him about how I've always wanted a Maine coon and he asked if he could look at marshmallow.
I said yes, and apon examination, he informed me that marshmallow was most likely part Maine coon. His reasoning was that my cat has fur pads, or the long fur between his toes that is a characteristic of Maine coons, and he has very long tufts of fur that are coming out of his ears. Not on top, but from the inside out.
I looked into more traits and characteristics and found that there are even more things he has in common with a Maine coon. For example, he's very vocal and will look you straight in the eyes. He has the waterproof, shorter hair on top of his longer, fluffier hair, and also possesses the characteristic 'mane' like fluff around his neck. He also has very bright golden green eyes.
So I'm looking for some opinions. What do you guys think? Does my kitty look part Maine coon to you?

I show cats and have several TICA Maine Coon breeder friends and can tell you your cat bears ZERO traits of the breed. If this cable guy bred "Maine Coons" and thought your cat looked anything like one well that just means he was a backyard breeder of NO BREED cats and was ripping people off. There's LOTS of people like that because people are too stupid to ask for PEDIGREES when buying kittens. They also think they're getting a "deal" when someone like this says they have "Maine Coon" kittens for only $200-$300 when registered breeders of REAL Maine Coons START at around $600 for pet quality.
Less than 3% of cats are ANY breed and kittens tend to be sold ALTERED. The rest of cats are simply "domestics" - no breed or mix. Cats were domesticated tens of thousands of years ago and domestics don't tend to have ANY breed in the history. They are the cats came from NOT the other way around!
THIS is what a Maine Coon looks like. Don't trust Google searches where everyone that ASSUMES their cat is one has labeled them as one. Only trust TICA, CFA, ACFA, FiFE pages for the breed and their related breeders. This particular Maine Coon is a Supreme Grand Champion and International, Regional winner in the TICA Northwest Region and owned by a breeder/friend of mine.
Note the long tufts on the TIPS of the very large, pointed ears. Note the very distinctive muzzle shape and thick ruff around the neck. The longer coat, ear furnishings (the hair coming out of the ears), slight ruff, fluffy tail, hair between the toys, etc that your cat has are just traits ANY long haired cat ALWAYS has - breed or no breed.
Take that collar off your cat. It's going to wear away the fur around its neck or get tangled in it. Microchip your cat so it has ID and KEEP IT INDOORS. Also comb - don't brush - its coat at least twice a week to prevent mats.

No, he is a lovely domestic long hair. Many or most long hair cats have that ruff of fur, the hairy toes, and the ear tufts. That doesn't make him a Maine Coon at all, or even part. Doesn't make him any less special though.

No, I had a domestic cat that have those same features. He had very hairy paws and a lot of long hair coming from his ears. He also had very puffy fur on his cheeks.
