what does Ranger Qualified actually mean?
one of my specialists was telling me that if you go to Ranger School, you will be a Ranger even though you haven't gone through RASP and you most likely are headed back to the unit. I was told otherwise and we had a friendly argument about it.
But my SGT confirmed that the specialist is right, yet im not convinced.
Also they say you are ranger qualified, what exactly does that qualify you to do. Like airborne qualifies you to be a parachutist.

Ranger School- Ranger Qualified V ASI. You will go back to your unit.
RASP -successful completion means assignment to the 75th Ranger Regiment which means you're a Ranger.
Service in the 75th Ranger Regiment and being Ranger qualified for at least 2 years earns you the U ASI.

No, Ranger School is a leadership school and has absolutely nothing to do with the Ranger Regiment other than the fact they share the same name. Going to Ranger School and being tabbed does not make you a member of the 75th in any capacity whatsoever. In order to be considered a member of the 75th Ranger Regiment, one must complete RASP and then subsequently be awarded the Ranger Scroll in order to be considered an Army Ranger. Being Ranger Qualified from having attended and completed Ranger School is not the same as graduating from the actual Ranger Regiment pipeline.

well the first thing you need to understand
is the Ranger school, has no connection with the ranger regiment at all
ranger school is a tradoc school
2. go ranger school graduates are ranger qualified- meaning they have been trained in small unit leadership tactics
3. RASP is the only way into the ranger regiment - ranger assessment and selection program
you can be in the ranger regiment and not have went too ranger school
4. so when someone say they are a ranger, that means they are assigned to the ranger regiment.
when someone says they are ranger qualified, that means they have gradated ranger school

Ranger school is purely a combat leadership school. you earn the Army Ranger tab to be worn on your uniform shoulder. it has no affiliation with the 75th ranger regiment. the 75th is a elite light infantry group.
there is no requirement to go to Rangers school if you are in the 75th, but to be in the 75th, you have to complete RASP training.
almost anyone can attend Ranger school. it has recently opened it up to woman. you'd get a better chance of acceptance if you have a combat related job.
