I added too much water to brown sugar to soften. Now what do I do to get it back to normal?

What were you planning on doing with the brown sugar. As said by another responder, you do NOT add water to brown sugar to soften it, but if you were going to add it to a recipe, perhaps you could add less liquid. The best thing, though, would be to throw out the sugary water you have now and go buy more brown sugar. When you store it, be sure that it is AIR TIGHT so that it doesn't clump and harden.

Well since everyone here said the same thing about not putting brown sugar in water, i say that if you want to soften the brown sugar next time put a damp paper towel on top of it and microwave it for 20 seconds, stir/break apart with spoon, repeat until desired texture. That is the way to go! Good Luck next time!

You don't soften brown sugar by adding water. Who told you that? You cannot "get it back to normal." You have to start over. And DON'T ADD WATER TO IT.
