How did the religious beliefs and practices of i) ancient Greece, Mesopotamia, Egypt or Hebrew peoples bring its people together?

    All of the religions encouraged a sense of community and conformity. Back in the ancient times, there weren't many written law codes like Hammurabi's so people would follow the laws of Holy Books instead. Many of the religions also placed a statesman as some head leader that would've received their authority from the heavens themselves. In Egypt the Pharaoh was considered a god or a descendant of a god. In Greece, many emperors claimed to be gods and decided to start religions in worship of them like Caesar. In Mesopotamia there were various rulers that claimed a status of a deity.

    Think of crazy religious cults multiplied by a thousand. Some literally killed their children for these "gods" Way too much information to describe on yahoo answers...research it youl be amazed.
