How to show a guy I like him without being too direct?

I have a crush on a guy and after multiple crushes going wrong because I was pretending to not care I decided to show I'm interested this time. I thought I would try to initiate a conversation myself but what are other ideas?

    What's wrong with being too direct? It takes all the guessing out of it. Don't play games, if you want something then go after it.
