  • Does he like me?

There's this guy in a lot of my classes who talks to me and teases me a lot (some days he will literally jump in to comment at anything I say) and he looks me in the eyes and laughs when I laugh. But a few weeks ago my friend (who is friends with one of his friends) told his friend to ask him if he wanted the 4 of us to go somewhere and he said he couldn't come/was busy. When I saw him again I thought he would be more distant because he would have realized I like him and he doesn't but he still acted the same. What does that mean? Could he really have been busy? Does he just want to be friends?

  • How to show a guy I like him without being too direct?

I have a crush on a guy and after multiple crushes going wrong because I was pretending to not care I decided to show I'm interested this time. I thought I would try to initiate a conversation myself but what are other ideas?

  • Equipotential lines (fields) question?

For a while I have had some questions on how equipotential lines work in fields in physics. I understand that all points on the line have the same potential and that the lines are at right angles to the field lines but what I don't understand is why:

    1) When a field is not uniform and the mass/charge is spherical why are the lines more close to one another the closer to the mass charge we are and then become more and more spaced out? Theoretically, shouldn't there be infinite equipotential lines for every possible distance from the mass/charge?

    2) Also why when there are two masses close to one another the equipotential lines sort of merge and end up becoming the same the farther away we move from the masses?

Trigonometry question on finding an angle?

Looking at the image (please ignore the irrelevant shapes this is from a physics problem) how do we find θ2 if we know θ1 and d. At first I thought θ2 = θ1-angle who has d/1 as its tangent but it turned out negative when θ1 was 10 degrees and d was 6.6.

How can I perform data analysis for this refraction physics lab?

The setup of the experiment is as drawn in the picture (where the red circle is a rotating disk, the box is a laser and the straight line the laser beam and the semi circle in the middle of the rotating disk is a container with a liquid) and the goal is to find the angle of refraction (θ2) in the picture. Knowing θ1 and the distance d, how can we find θ2? (The blue dotted line is the normal to the surface of refraction).

  • How to calculate refractive index when angle of incidence is 0?

I am doing an experiment where I point a laser beam to water and find the angle of refraction and then the index of refraction. But how can I calculate the index of refraction of water when my angle of incidence is 0? From Snell s Law that would give that the refractive index is also 0 right? but that doesn t make sense

  • What kind of secondary memory do cell phones use?

I know they don't have a hard drive but what is it that they have for offline storage? Like the iPhone for example which does not take a memory card?

  • How do we find the point of higher voltage in a circuit?

There was a physics exercise in which there were 2 points A and B on a circuit and between them was a resistor. The question was which one is at higher voltage. How do we find that? Is it the point towards which the current flows?

  • Physics momentum/energy question?

A body of mass M explodes into two pieces. One piece has twice the mass of the other. What is the ratio of the kinetic energy of the small piece to that of the larger one? Please explain the answer.

  • Is there such a thing in math as the rate of change of time with respect to another variable?

I know that you can use differential calculus to find the rates of change of several variables such as velocity or distance. But I'm trying to talk about how the time it takes for a program to run changes with the size of the data. So is there such a thing as the rate of change of time with respect to data size (or any variable?)

  • How to find mass from kinetic energy graph?

If you are given a kinetic energy vs time graph, for a particle doing SHM how do you find the mass? (maximum kinetic energy is 1.6 J and the period of the motion is 8 s if that helps)

  • Extremely depressed. Everything in my life is wrong. Any advice?

So, lately for the past 5 months my life has been going downhill and everything is extremely wrong and crooked. The past 2 years of my life had been the happiest ever and then one day it all started going wrong. My parents almost got divorced and in the process of trying to fix their marriage have become really different people. They both started smoking a lot and they don't care that I'm around and my dad drinks a lot and listens to depressing music that depresses me too. It's like suddenly I have to be the parent to them. Also, things financially have been going awful because our country is almost bankrupt and the chances of me going to study abroad, which has been the plan since I was pretty much born are getting slimmer. And this is especially depressing because my whole life I have been studying really hard to get the grades that would allow me to go to a good uni. And to top all that off I have been getting more and more introverted lately and I realized I almost can't open up to anyone except 2 or 3 people. That was one of the reasons the guy I liked started dating another girl. All this has lead me to be really depressed. I sit on my couch all the time when I'm home and I'm not in the mood to exercise or eat healthy. Any advice on how I can become happier?
