How to find the refractive index when knowing the angle of incidence and the angle of refraction?

    use Snell's Law

    ni sin(i) = nr sin(r)

    so when you know

    i = angle of incidence

    r= angle of refraction

    ni - index of refraction for incident medium

    if this is air, which it commonly is, then ni = 1

    so

    just solve for nr

    which is the refractive index of the refracting medium
