My dog eats nothing but human food. Please help!?

stop giving in and feeding her human food. Every time you give in and give her people food you are rewarding her for not eating her own food. It's like telling a child "since you didn't eat your veggies have some cookies instead" Stop feeding her human food. The dog will eat her own food when she gets hungry enough. She WILL NOT starve herself to death.

give her her food. if she doesn't eat it in 5-10 minutes take it away, put it on the counter, make sure she can still see it. Try again in a little while, and just keep repeating the process. it's basically reverse psychology, by taking it away you are telling them they can't have it, which, makes them want it.

she's still going to be stubborn and it might take a day or two. That's perfectly fine. She can go a couple days without eating (two max) it's just a matter of who will cave first. but every time you cave she wins and she'll learn to resist her food longer and longer because she'll learn eventually she'll get something "better". Human food is like candy to dogs.

Yeah, just stop with the human food. She will get the drift after 2-3 days of going without. Put her dog food down for 30 minutes and if she doesn't eat, oh well her problem, take it up and don't give her a morsel of food until her next feeding and do the same thing again, putting only dog food down for 30 minutes and then if she doesn't eat, again, that's her loss and take it up. Believe me, she will catch on that you're not going to knuckle under anymore and dogs won't starve themselves so she'll realize that if she wants food it's just dog food or nothing and she'll pick the dog food.

She does this because she's figured out that you'll give in and she'll get what she wants. The following will work if you stick to it and if she doesn't have a chronic medical issue like diabetes or Cushing's.

Once or twice a day (whatever your normal schedule is), put down her bowl of dry food. Give her 30-45 minutes to eat, and pick the bowl up, regardless of how much is left. Repeat at the following feedings. While you're doing this, DO NOT give her treats, DO NOT give in to her begging. When she gets hungry enough, she'll eat.

I think she has gotten like that because you have been feeding her. Not sure why you started giving her human food all the time, but you need to stop. It can be really unhealthy for the dog. Don't offer it and she won't eat it. She will eventually eat her own food once she realizes she isn't getting any of yours.

Be strong. Your dog won't starve herself, but it could take a few days for her to figure it out. Just measure out her food, put it down for 30 minutes, pick it back up. Do that again in the evening. she will eventually eat what you provide. It is your job to decide what your dog eats, and it's her job to eat it. Treats are fine, so perhaps give a treat at noon.

Easy....Don`t feed the dog ANYTHING until she is so hungry she will eat normal dog food like it was prime steak.

The after that only feed her dog food.

No healthy dog will deliberately starve itself to death...believe me.

You may have to withhold food for 48 hours or even longer if the dog is stubborn.

You say she "can`t" eat her normal dog food without having human food in it.

Of course she "can"

Try soaking her dry food until its crumbly and then mix some canned dog meat in with it.

You have to be tough and not let the dog manipulate you into giving in to her demands. Your choice.
