Why is Trump winning in the polls when the online community professes to despise him?

I don't support him and despise his tactics. In all my years I haven't seen a person who is worst suited for the position. When I see comments in the media and online, I assume I and the majority of the community despise him. However, this doesn't translate into votes. He is winning the GOP race by a landslide.

Update:

Imagine if President Trump actually followed through with the plans and ideas that candidate Trump said to the public.

- He would order our troops to identify the spouses and children of our enemies and slaughter them. He would have to bankrupt our government to hunt down every illegal alien in his 4 year term (if not impossible). His Great Wall of America (1,989 miles) would be a feat similar in stature to the Great Wall of China (200 years to build).

He's not winning "by a landslide". Trump has yet to get a majority of republican votes in any state. The closest he came was in Massachusetts where he got 49%. In every other state he has won with 30-40% or so.

The "online community" (or any community for that matter) is not necessarily representative of the nation as a whole. But the numbers which I cited show that Trump isn't quite as popular as some might think. Beginning in two weeks almost all of the elections are "winner take all" elections. So it's possible that Trump could easily win the nomination with only a third of the Republican vote. But that means that there's still plenty of people who could hate him and express their hatred on line.

You just spend too much time with like minded people. I've met dozens of people crazy for Trump and they are impossible to reason with. Frankly Cruz is even worse, just extremely polished. Trump is actually somewhat liberal at his core and his public comments about healthcare for all is further proof of that. When Trump pulls out version 2.0 for the independents it will be very scary to see how close it gets with Hilary.

There is no single monolithic "online community". The Internet is as fractured politically as real life is. If you think that Y!A represents voting conservatives who are pro-Trump, you are in for a bad surprise. You go to some conservative or pro-Trump sites and read what they ACTUALLY have to say and it will fry your circuits faster than a hairdryer in a bathtub. I won't name them here, but my god, you can lose brain cells just skimming some of that.

    Multiple Choice:

    a) Trump supporters don't know how to use computers?

    b) NeverTrump supporters spend all day online?

    c) The YA! community does not accurately depict the attitudes of the country at large?

Just because Cruz, Rubio, and the powers that be in the GOP have hired cyberspace anti-Trump employees, don't mean that that's how the rest of the country feels.

Here's the thing...since Ronald Reagan Americans have thirsted for real change to the corruption that is Washington DC politics. The pot has finally boiled over. Obama was supposed to change things. 7 years later - nope, business as usual. So lets go a whole different direction.

Because the online community is composed largely of people who do not have jobs. That's why they can sit on line and be judgmental of people all day long.

One supporter said he wants to give the middle finger to the country and the GOP. I understand his feelings, but that's not how you pick a good president for the country.
