How do I save emails from an old email account to my computer?

I have an old AOL email account that I am going to delete. I have lots of emails saved in folders on my AOL account. How can I save them to my computer?

Update:

I do NOT want to save the emails to Yahoo. I want to save them to my external hard drive.

Update 2:

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with Yahoo! The only reason I am on here is because of Answers. I want to move all of my folders from my old AOL account so I can permanently delete it. I want to save the folders including the emails to my external hard drive
