I messed up badly on Barnes and Noble phone interview. Am I screwed?
The call totally came unexpected so I wasn t prepared. In all honesty, I thought I d never get an interview since my past online applications have been rejected before so I was surprised I even got through to a phone interview this time. But because I was unprepared, I ended up stuttering, mumbling, and sounding flat. I also answered questions such as "why should we hire you" awkwardly. For example I blurted out that I have good memory skills and that I know the store like the back of my hand, which doesn t say anything about how well I d do on the job.
B&N is one of those places I wanted to work at but after my failure of an interview does that mean I m screwed? I have phone anxiety so phone interviews are the worst for me

Yes, you probably screwed that job. They should ask if now is a good time. It is in your bast interests to say no, and schedule a better time, in 30-90 minutes, or a time range, the next day, when you can plan to be in a quiet place, and prepared for the interview.
However, the answers to those types of questions that are so common, you should be prepared to answer, especially for a job that you've applied for, and should have already done some background digging - homework, to prepare yourself with questions you need answered about the job, duties, pay frequency, other specifics that you don't have the answers to, that would show interest in the job and the company.
Barnes and noble isn't a great job, but it's not bad, if you don't have a lot of experience. I would not have expected much from the interview, but it you were unprepared, you might call them back and ask for another try, at a predetermined time and date, or in person.

They should have asked when they can meet you for an interview. I feel it's more better in person to interview. Don't worry most interviewees are nervous. Just be normal. You can't be too hard on yourself. You will get more interviews to other stores.
