Any tips for someone new to the insurance/financial advising industry?

a quick synopsis about me and my situation. I recently moved to San Diego from SW Florida, about 7 months ago. I recently got a sales/advising position at a national insurance agency, and want a few tips from experienced individuals on how to get started and do well in the industry. The company offers great training, but id like to see what advice others could pass on to me. thank you for any help.

Start with your natural market, which may be limited since you are new to the area. Networking groups are great, but everyone there is trying to sell something to someone. I'd look for networking events, like Networking After Work. Or just join a few groups to actually make friends, like from Meetup. Young professionals groups, or your college alumni association, or even a kickball league.

Yeah, don't expect to make any money. Almost no one does, and the few that do usually rely on the friends and contact that they have built up by living in the local area for many years before entering the industry. I've never heard of anyone doing well less than a year after moving to the state.

Join a few networking groups for professionals. This will give you a potential source of warm leads.

Read your policies. Read the forms. Don't EVER take someone else's word for what is and is not covered (many times, they also have NOT read the form, but are repeating what they've been told.) Read it for yourself.

Your phone isn't going to ring. You need to create and use your natural market. Talking to people is the best starting place.
