partially torn out dog dewclaw?? what to do till i can get her to a vet tomorrow? its sunday.....?
earlier this morning i went on a hike with my jack russell terrier and he began limping then i noticed the partially ripped out dew claw. He has done this to the same dew claw before. Is it more suseptible once ripped? My bigger dog never ever had this problem.
I'm wrapping it after cleansing with sterile peroxide, as all he wants to do is lick it but he keeps shaking the dressing off..... claw is not all the way out, but close to it.
i sure hope hes not in much pain....

Try to keep him from aggravating it is about all you can do. Dew claws are funny things and vary considerably from dog to dog. Sometimes they have bone, sometimes they're just flaps or nodes of flesh with a claw. If your dogs are causing problems you could talk to your veg about removing them. Some vets a d breeders routinely remove dew class.
Both my mixed breeds have dew claws and I have to keep them trimmed as they get wickedly sharp. I also motice that bothy dogs use them to help them "grip" things they are chewi g on so unless there is a specific reason for me to have them removed I won't.

Just keep wrapping it up until you can get to the vet.
If it does seem more serious, find an emergency vet.
