Military would an updated A-1 skyraider make a good CAS/ COIN aircraft?
I know the A-1 has been out of productions since the 1950's and out of service since the early 1970's when they ran out of parts. However for the sake of the questions we'll assume that the A-1 could be put back into production for close to the same cost of a Super Tucano the new version would be armed with smart weapons and ECM. It wouldn't be an A-10 replacement but a Super Tucano replacement

Why would we need to replace the A-29 Super Tucano?
First, in order to replace something, you have to have it to begin with. The only A-29s the US has are really the Afghan AF's.
Seriously, why would we replace a plane that is based off of a less than 20 year old design, that is currently in production, and is a turbo prop, with a WWII design, piston-engined plane that has been out of production for 60 years?
No one has seriously given the A-1E any consideration for upgrades for 40 years. The A-29, or even other planes like the AT-6, are already on the production line with modern avionics, modern targeting systems, and were designed to carry weapons that are currently in production. In order to make a new A-1, someone would have to go back to the drawing board and pretty much re-design everything that goes inside the plane.

Well the a10 is still VERY effective against goat herders and People driving pickup trucks... but ist a sitting duck against any only somehow modern air defence.
just for example even an old german "Gepard" (no longer in Service because ist too old) could blow an a10 out of the sky anytime it Comes into range.
