An object’s weight is equal to the Universal gravitational force.
m * g = G * M * m ÷ d^2
g = G * M ÷ d^2
d is the distance from the center of the earth to the object. This is sum of the radius of the earth and the object’s altitude.
d = 6.38 * 10^6 + 8,848,000 = 1.5228 * 10^7 meters
g = 6.67 * 10^-11 * 5.98 * 10^24 ÷ (1.5228 * 10^7)^2
This is approximately 1.72 m/s^2.
I hope this helps you to understand how to solve this type of problem. As look at the equation, you see that the value of g is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the center of the earth to the object.
(6.38 * 10^6)^2 ÷ (1.5228 * 10^7)^2
This is approximately 0.17553. Let’s multiply this number by 9.8
g = 9.8 * 0.17553 = 1.720194
This is an easy way to solve this problem
