Theism is a part of most religions. Atheism is a part of some religions. A stance on whether God exists is not in itself a religion.

Theism is the belief in a god. An atheist who has no god. It follows that theism is a religion and atheism isn't.

Atheism is a rejection of theism based on the lack of evidence.

It baffles me why this is so hard for people to comprehend. It's not a philosophy, it's not a religious belief, it's not a religion. It is a rejection of claims that gods exist. Period.

No. It's a grouping of people who believe in God. Most of them are religious, but not all.

  • Yeah, you're right. Atheism is more properly seen as being lots and lots of religions.

    Can be. For some.

Atheism is a religion for some, and not for others. Dogma is one marker. Having an article of faith (unprovable belief) is another.

Atheism is a cult - not a religion.

There are minor atheist religions like buddhism and jainism.
