Christians: why do you believe in Jesus?

There is little historical evidence that he existed, he left no writings of his own, there is no description of him, and a good chunk of his life is missing from the Bible. I have yet, in my nearly 60 years on this planet, to hear a compelling argument that supports his existence

There are around 400 different prophecies about Jesus the son of God written in the Old Testament that turned out to be true. That says something right?

    -----------------------

Lots of evidence outside the bible too,

After the Fire in Rome 64 Ad when the Christians were blamed for the fire, historian Tacitus wrote

Nero fastened the guilt ... on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of ... Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judaea, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome

Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Peter, James, Jude, and Paul. These men all lived at the same time as Jesus, and they wrote about Jesus. Three of them of them were apostles who preached with Jesus. (Matthew, John, and Peter. The apostles Matthew and John knew Jesus very well, and they each wrote a book about Jesus' life. The apostle John wrote a book called Revelation and three letters called First John, Second John, and Third John. The apostle Peter wrote two letters that are in the Bible. They are called First Peter, and second Peter, In his second letter, Peter wrote about the time when Jehovah God spoke from heaven and said about Jesus: This is my son. A massive car racing accident eleven years ago, left my neck feeling as if it was crushed a massive head ache day after day, Looking at a family, I was the only financial provider for. I needed help , I felt as if I had been delivered to the gates of hell. I went out on a limb and laid my faith in Jesus, thinking nothing would come of it. Then he showed up and the healing process began. I can now look back everyday and thank Jesus for saving me and my family, and helping a bumpy ride in life become a lot smoother.

With "60 years on this planet", that leaves you very little time to arrive at the truth. Maybe none: "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes" (James 4:14).

Only a die hard disbeliever clings to the fiction that Jesus did not exist. That places you at zero as far as seeking and finding the truth.

Jesus said, despite your adamant refusal to believe that He existed, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8:32).

And, to what truth was He referring? "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).

Just because you haven't heard a compelling argument does not mean that the ones you heard are not actually compelling. the large majority of scholars agree that Jesus existed. this is because of the large majority of writings about him. writings that are consistent with respect to Jesus' relatives, where he lived, where he was born. what he did. another thing that heightens the historical probability of Jesus existing (history is a matter of probability not proof), is the fact that the historical period in which Jesus was supposedly had existed was a time a place filled with countless rebel leaders who were given the title of messiah. Not to mention, the name Jesus (Yeshua) and its variant (Joshua) was in fact a very common name in first century Galilee. whether christian or not you would have to do some extreme historical special pleading to deny that it is at least possible that a man named Jesus existed, who started a Jewish messianic movement in the first century, which now developed into Christianity.

The fact that there is historical evidence that he existed makes me believe in what he taught. There's enough prejudice based on what we look like without anyone knowing what Jesus looked like. That is further evidence on the wisdom of God.

    because Jesus is historically documented.

it is important in Atheist beliefs that Jesus be ignored.

It is not important that I try to convince you because you ignore obvious facts.

I just wanted to tell you why I believe historical facts.

Even your leaders admit that Jesus is a true historical person.

You are going against your own leaders.

Remember, the bible is a book of unknown authorship, under unknown timeframe, put together by people who didn't write it.

The bible is not historically authentic, and historians know they'd be wasting their time.

Because the only people who claim "there is little historical evidence that he existed" are radically biased atheists who have done little to no research beyond a single google search, 5 minutes on wikipedia and 2 atheist websites.

Almost all historians and scholars have enough evidence He existed, perhaps you're looking in the wrong place or are getting biased information.
