How do kids manage to eat those detergent pods?

I can see putting it in their mouth but wouldn't they spit it out and cry as soon as the taste hit them? They're too big to swallow and they have to taste disgusting.

    They drop them in their glass of chocolate milk to see the brown bubbles. Mommy gets all excited and keeps them home from school that day to watch tv or play video games.

    They don't have any taste until they are chewed and broken. The reaction then could cause someone to swallow.
