Why don't I like any 2010s music?

I'm 16, and into a lot of music from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s (mostly alternative rock stuff), but since about 2008, anything by young artists has just sounded dull and boring. My parents listen to some newer music and actually like it more than I do. Likewise, I've recorded some demos and people have compared the sound to that of Joy Division circa 1979.

What happened to music in the late 2000s? Previously a lot of rock/indie songs had a conventional structure, and catchy hook, but since then the AutoTune has been cranked up a lot on vocals, verse-chorus structure has been lost, and there has been a lot more operatic focus. Will it go the other way again?

How come if my parents and everyone else I know likes the current rock music being released, do I not? I grew up listening to a lot of stuff from the 80s and 90s, but so did other kids who are my age.

People have different tastes. I'm pretty open, but I can't bring myself to enjoy some new music. I'm mainly a rock/metal person. And I'm 13!

Actually I think the 2010's has been a good decade for music so far. Sure as hell beats the 2000's which sucked.

Nothing may ever beat the 1970's then the 1980's.

I don't know about you but I find good music all the time. I have no use for radio nor it's influence. I use the internet with the knowledge and the drive to find whatever music I so desire. Don't you wish you did too?

You want good music from this decade?

Joe Bonamassa has a new album out this year (and it's VERY good)

Billy Gibbons (you know, the ZZ Top guy?) recently released a new 'solo' album (good except for two tracks IMHO - I do NOT like rap)

A bit older; Amanda Palmer (formerly of the Dresden Dolls, she's married to Neil Gaiman)'s album "who killed Amada Palmer?"

Because you like great music, as I do. Not a singer in 2010s can be compared to the 80s artists. I'm 16 as well and I suffer from the sam harm. Best singer nowadays could be, idk Adele. She's got talent at least, if you don't like her songs. ANYWAY, I'm still stucked in the 80s with Billy Joel( THE BEST).
