Were you financing your car or was it payed off? Did you have full coverage? If so they will pay you (or the bank if financed) the fair market value of your car and take it. If there is a balance on your note you will owe that unless you have gap insurance.

If all you had was liability you're screwed because all that does is cover who ever you hit if you are at fault but it doesn't cover you or your car.

Always keep full coverage on your car.

If you only have 3rd party insurance, then you Company can't help you. You didn't pay them for damage to your vehicle.

If another driver was at fault, then you may be able to pursue them, or their insurance company, to cover your loss. But your insurers isn't going to help you out with this as you didn't pay for full cover insurance.

As with many of your posts you have left out crucial detail. I assume your numerous references to "they" is your insurer. If you only had liability coverage (third party) on your vehicle damage costs would only be recouped to the individual which you caused damage, not your vehicle. You had an option to choose which coverage you wanted on your vehicle. You have to live with your choice and suffer the consequences.
