How do I get a job when I have little experience?
I have worked at an after school care and café (long time ago and I didn't make coffee I just served them). I'm a teenager and I want to get into retail or become a barista. I've applied for so many places but I'm underqualified for everything. Help please? Besides volunteering to get more experience how do I sell myself to employers? I'm a quick learner and self motivated, very reliable but they always ask in the interview "what is your experience handling cash" and I don't know the right way to say I have no experience. I don't even know if this question makes sense but if you have any advice please let me know!! :) Thank you!

It is great that you are looking into becoming a barista or getting into retail jobs, those are both great first time jobs that require very little experience, if any.
A lot of what goes on in an interview is just how confident you sound in you answers..
when they ask you about your experience handling cash, it doesn't NEED to be at an actual job, it can literally be experience in girl scouts, boy scouts, 4H, FFA, childhood babysitting job, etc.
If you feel the need you could even preface the answer with "at this point in time my experience is limited(because you are a teenager), BUT __________"
You could even consider saving your money, getting money from lawn mowing, babysitting, doing chores, etc. It doesn't necessarily sound the best, but you are a kid and haven't had the chance to really gain experience yet.
All that they are really asking is that you have handled money before and know how to give back change..
Good luck!

If there are hotels or old folks homes in your town, there will be a temporary agency where they hire servers for meals. They will hire anybody who owns tuxedo pants and shirt (ask them where to buy). Some of the people you meet will be able to get you a steady job if you are nice.
