Removing the banned from Xbox One...?

Once a Xbox One has been banned from any online playing due to whatever the owner may have previously has done, couldn't you still remove the banned? Could you just go to systems and perform a restore back to factory settings to fix the issue or at the very least change out the hard drive (though removing the hard drive maybe a violation of Microsoft terms as well)? Thank you for your information.

P.S: I don't own a Xbox One, but I've seen people post stuff up on Facebook about used Xbox One consoles with this message popping up and I just figured that you could do a restore.

No, there is nothing you can do to the XBox console to get around the ban.

The ban is registered on the Xbox Live servers, and uses your Xbox's MAC Address, which is stored inside the ethernet chip on the motherboard, to uniquely identify your console.

You cannot remove the ethernet chip, nor can you change the MAC Address stored inside.

So it doesn't matter if you do a system reset or remove the hard drive. The console will still be banned.

The only one who can remove the lifetime ban is Microsoft. They generally don't permanently ban a console unless they've detected that the console has been modified in some way - for instance, been hacked by the owner so he can use cheats in online games.

Console bans are permanent. The ban is based on an internal console ID that's not changeable (not the MAC, which can be changed) and prevents it from signing into Live. The console still works, it can just never go online again.

If it were that easy to get around a console ban, there wouldn't be much point in doing the ban in the first place. That's why they don't bother with IP bans, it's just too easy to change.

The ban isn't on the box, it's on the Live server clusters. You'll need to call Microsoft so they can unban the MAC address of the XBox.
