Mom and dad have dimples. Baby does not. What gives?

I've always known for dimples to be a dominant trait (although considered a "deformity") but I've always loved and appreciated mine with how many compliments I get on them. Both the father of my child and I have dimples on BOTH cheeks and they are very deep. You could practically eat cereal off our faces. So when I was pregnant with my little one I was sure she would have them too. But they're doesn't seem to be any real sign of them on her face since she was born. She is now a month old and I still don't see anything. She doesn't smile all that often. She more or less just smirks making it hard to really tell if there's is or isn't anything there. My question is could it be possible that they'll show up later when she starts smiling more often or should I just let go of the idea?

Thanks for the help. No rude answers please!

Hmm, well if she's a chunky baby with big cheeks then maybe they could show up when she starts losing her baby fat. But honestly you'll see in time, if not then you just gotta love her dimpleless cheeks haha. My sister and her husband both have dimples also and neither of their kids have dimples, I guess it just depends.

You don't know much about genetics. Since the "dimple gene" is dominant, it means that it will "win out" of the non-dimple gene. As such, both parents are very likely to have one dimple gene and one non-dimple gene. If both parents donate the non-dimple gene to the child, the child will not have dimples. If either parent does donate the dimple gene, the child would have dimples.

Dimples are not always apparent from birth. Your child may have them yet.

    inherited from grandparents no dimples

Its not like babies can inherit parents characteristics immediately.

It takes a little more than one YEAR for all the characteristics to kick in.

More of a genetic defect than a deformity caused by shorted face muscles. As for why
