How to lower the dB output of my exhaust?

Update:

I don't get you people. 2 answers that don't understand the question. Both think the car is broken. All I am trying to do is lower the volume temporarily. I like it loud, it passed fine last year with this same setup. I just need a temp fix that doesn't require me taking out my whole exhaust or even parts of it if I can.

Update 2:

Ok, nevermind. I thought Yahoo would have some smart people. All I can find are idiots. Decided to just get a silencer for my car to fit temporarily.

I got my car inspected and it failed the inspection because it was .9 dB over the allowable rating. It passed fine last year idk what happened this year. I am trying to think of ways to lower the dB level without having to change my exhaust a bunch. I have the stock exhaust, but it is a pain to put in in my current situation.

I have heard of steel wool in the exhaust to help muffle the sound. I want it to be hard to see if possible.

First have the exhaust checked for leaks. Then if that's not a problem, have a second muffler welded on before the current muffler.

Just change out your broken exhaust so you don't sound like a dirtbag.
