Truth be told, a Sen Sanders worker knocked on my door this PM. What could his campaign do to override the political Clinton machine?

Nothing. Ultimately, Sanders knew he had no chance to win, and in fact has done better than he, or anyone could have hoped. He was what is known as a protest candidate. This happens pretty often where a candidate who knows that they are too ideologically extreme to win will enter the presidential race in an effort to get their ideas national media attention and pull the mainstream candidates in their direction. Since the media is lazy this is what it takes to get ideas out there.
And Sanders was very successful. He got to show everyone just how looney tunes his ideas really are. Even leftist economists compared believing in his ideas to believing in fairies and unicorns. But people were exposed to them. So, by that measure, success!
Also, he pulled Hillary leftward. Historically, Hillary and her husband have been fairly market oriented and conservative Democrats. Remember the New Democrats, sometimes called the Blue Dog Democrats? Yeah, they don't exist anymore because Obama purged them from the party by forcing them to vote for policies he knew would cost them their seats...and sure enough, it did in 2010. Well, Bill and Hillary invented that group.
Hillary had always been a fairly market oriented Democrat. She was supportive of free trade, she was fairly hawkish by Democratic standards, her health care plan was a mess, but she TRIED to incorporate some market mechanisms in it, unlike ObamaCare which takes a whizz on markets. She's abandoned all of those positions because of the pressure Sanders put on her. So by that measure, success again!

Him and his people have become delusional.
He ran a good race and lost.
Happens to someone every four years.
