Should we let Religion go or should we let Personal choices go...if it has to be one way or the other?

Let it go as it only polarises mindsets instead of hearts.No greater criticism was levelled at religious leaders than by Jesus who observed the pretence ,hypocricy and power mongering to obtain servitude and prestige for themselves most often.
He declares and commands that we serve nothing and no one but God, not "religion".

Given that religion can be and often is corrupted and personal choices can often be convenient opinions we need an intelligent base for our ethics . The intelligent base for ethics is to be found in the early philosophy . Philosophy lost its way when relativism came on the scene and denied universal law . A good example would be road rules imagine driving a car when every one did what they wanted

We should not let religion or personal choices go. It does not have to be one way or another.

I'm not sure what you mean by that? Isn't religion a personal choice too?
Edit: Really its pretty simple to me: if a law has no reason to bar something beyond religious reasoning then its personal choice and should not be infringed upon.
Religion is something that should be practiced and followed by those that believe it, not forced upon others.

Religion IS a personal choice. It is NOT one way or the other.
If you think it is one way or the other, then that is your own choice.

Should we let Religion go or should we let Personal choices go...if it has to be one way or the other?
~~~ You have no choice to let anything 'go'.
Nor do you know what religion is;
'Religion' is the congregation of those infected with the same strain of 'belief'!
No one logically chooses to have a 'belief!
'Beliefs' are 'caught' and 'spread' like other infections!
So there is no 'letting it go', NOR is there any real (other than imaginary/vanity) 'choices/free-will'!
Only the terminally ignorant imagine that life is two choices, like on/off mentality.
There are spectrums and spectrums between your simplistic t/f!
A lot has changed in America due to allowing people's preference being allowed in public and being concerned with diversity. Sexual Orientation, and this list goes on and on.....
Also, with Immigration .....now that America has created the laws anyone trying to get into America after we created Immigration laws is illegal, but once our country at one time did not have immigration laws so our forefathers came over...I guess it was ok for Christopher Columbus and the Pilgrims and all the rest of the colonials to come over but once they got into America they set it up so no one after them could come over to America? See where I am going...this is all a different subject....but back to people's personal choices and non judgemental reactions to society if we do away with religion to let people be themselves....what if we not allow people to be themselves to keep our Christianity sacred and righteous? I am not taking sides...this is what is going on and this is going on and eventually going to break America's tension ....because only one can stay....take your pick....Religion or Sexual Orientation? Also, Immigration laws hypocritical because at one time weren't we all immigrants to this country (forefathers)? Look, once again...I am not taking sides...I want to open up your mind and also at the same time make you think....if you disagree that is cool....but please explain why you disagree hypocritical claims are allowed to be justified?
there are tens of thousands of religions, yet there is no debate about the truth.
many religions are authoritarian, and a holy man sets himself or is set-up as a leader/dictator. this would be a religion which tells you how to live in your daily life,and says that you will never be able to have this level of truth yourself.
other religions are lassiez-faire, saying this is the truth, fulfill your own life as well as you can. they offer only guidance, and do not control a person's life.
the difference is that one religion will reveal the full truth to you, and say thorough your own efforts alone will you fulfill your own life.
the other religion says, i am the only one to have the truth, and if you want to live, i will control your life for you.
i favor the lassez-faire approach since it is much more democratic and allows for free will. this way i can have freedom to live my own life, and to have as much religion as i like. my progress is solely dependent upon myself, my own efforts, and so are the results.
Oh really?
Is that the new atheist line? Religion and personal choice can't stand? What BS.
There is God without religion and there is moral and justice without churches, temples and mosques. If there is reason and just, good and moral in your personal choices you need not worry about any other thing.
