What does it mean to exercise yourself to godliness which is profitable to all things?
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among nations, believed on in the world, and received up into glory.
(1 Timothy 3:16 MKJV)
But refuse profane and old-womanish tales, and exercise yourself to godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the present life, and of that which is to come. Faithful is the Word, and worthy of all acceptance.
(1 Timothy 4:7-9 MKJV)
What even is the POWER of God-likeness?
And by "God-likeness" I am referring to us acting the part that we've been made, even "in Our Image, and after Our Likeness".
So what is the power of knowing that we were made in His Image and after His Likeness?
First, let us define true "godliness" or "god-likeness"... and let us look to Jesus' example for the best demonstration of this god-like mindedness (thinking like God):
Do not let each man look upon his own things, but each man also on the things of others. For let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
(Philippians 2:4-8 MKJV)
Thank you, beloved, for considering this Q.
The reason I believe it IMPORTANT to point out the priority of "the power of Godliness", is simply because we are to stay away from those who have a form of godliness but deny the POWER of it (godliness)!
"...holding to an outward form of godliness but denying its power. Avoid these people!"
(2 Timothy 3:5 TLV)

1Ti 4:7 People tell silly stories that don't agree with God's truth. Don't follow what these stories teach. But teach yourself to be devoted to God (Easy to Read Version).
I would suggest you find an easier to read version at this time so that you don't have to constantly wonder what God's word means.
