South Korea, is not only a US ally but there are 28,500 US military personnel stationed there. That is because it has been seen by every president since the Korean war as an highly strategic and important US military presence. If you tried bring the soldiers home first, North Korea would find out.

Then of course parts of southern China which border North Korea would also be in that killing zone, with many more dying from the effects of radiation, which could also, depending on the wind direction, kill many in Japan, which is off the coast of North Korea.

What you propose would result in killing millions of innocent civilians, two from countries which have close economic and military ties with your country. On top of that giving another nuclear country, China, a legitimate reason to retaliate and Nuke you. And unlike North Korea, China has nukes with working delivery systems, an estimated 260 of them.

Your suggestion is a blue print for WW3, with nukes.
