Based on historical data from Consumer Reports and JD Power and such, Lexus is supposedly the most reliable brand of all most years. But brand is hardly the only thing you have to think about. A 15 year old Volkswagen that's been taken impeccable care of will be more reliable than a 2 year old Lexus that's been beat to sh*t and neglected. Previous owner maintenance and care(or lack of) has a bigger effect on reliability than brand alone.

Lexus usually comes out on top of most reliability surveys, such as those by Consumer Reports. Acura comes out considerably further down the list.
