  • How much weight can my F-150 really carry for short distances?

I have a new aluminum F-150 Supercab 2WD F-150 with the 6,900# GVWR package. With just myself and a full tank of gas, the truck weighs in at 4,920 or so as equipped. This appears to leave me with about 2,000 lbs payload capacity assuming a full tank.

I'm shooting to load a cube(pallet) of brick in the back, the company tells me it weighs about 2,047 lbs. While I'm sure the truck can take that and then some, I don't want to do anything that will void the warranty. But more importantly, I know that payload is intended to be spread between the two axles, not necessarily all over the rear, so what is the weakest link in an F-150's rear axle/suspension? Is the axle stout enough for such weight easily, or is it pushing the limit?

If it makes any difference, I'm only traveling about 5 miles across town under 40mph the whole way.

  • Comcast internet price gouging or AT&T Uverse price gouging? Which to go with?

I'm moving to a new house, and I can FINALLY get satellite TV and dump Comcast's no-DVR coax 40 channels that never top 480p. However, this leaves me with an internet debacle. As I'm a current Comcast customer, they want to charge me $44.99 for a pathetic 10Mb/s. So I looked up AT&T in my area, which apparently only offers up to 12 Mb/s at $50/mo. Is this really an acceptable price for 10-12Mb/s? I'm currently paying $85-90 or so for the aforementioned 40 channels and 75Mb/s internet. I feel as if Comcast and AT&T are in bed together to ensure we pay these prices for stupid slow internet. Any advice? I would consider myself an average internet user. I do occasionally stream movies in 720p and browse Facebook on a few phones but that's about it, no gaming.

  • Is a Samsung 65" 4K TV worth the $110 price difference over an LG 65" 1080p TV?

I'm in the market for a 65" screen. I usually don't watch much over 720p video, but I've noticed a few sets that offer 4K for about $110 over the price of a similar brand/model 1080p set. $110 for a 4K upgrade seems pretty good deal, but since I hardly watch anything beyond 720p, and my couch will be 9 feet from the screen, I was just wondering if it'd be worth it. I'd like to be able to "futureproof" my set, but if the improvement is negligible, I'm perfectly ok sticking with the old 1080p capability.

  • MKV Jetta Wolfsburg turbo w/ DSG shudders and shakes at stops in gear with brake on?

Just bought a 2010 Jetta with 111,000 miles and the EA888 engine. She runs awesome above 35mph, drives like a dream with all the power and absolutely zero vibration, but when you slow down to a light and holding the brake, she shudders as if the motor mounts or something are gone. Does not make any bad noises or groaning or anything just exhibits a shake in the drive line. And sometimes once you get moving it kinda shakes like a tires out of balance or something too but I don t know if that s related.

All the recalls and services have been done as far as I know, and I m gonna take her to the dealer tomorrow to get a service tech s opinion, but I was just wondering from anybody with experience with these cars if this is normal? My last MKV was a 2.5 with 104,000 and never did anything like this so it didn t seem normal. But I ve also never driven anything with a turbo and DSG so maybe it is normal.

  • Active duty military trying to get a CDL, advice?

I'm not actually looking to drive a truck anytime soon, but I know a CDL is a valuable thing to have when I get out, plus the military will pay for the certification, and possibly a portion of the school fees I'm not yet sure. So I'm just looking for advice for maybe the best school to attend and so forth. If it matters, I live in Florida.

As one might expect, I do have some experience with large vehicles and trailers and I know how to drive stick and all that should it matter. Thanks in advance.

  • How does a truck frame rust so much if it's painted at the factory?

So my truck is 13 years old. Still drives great, but has a lot of rust as it apparently spent most of it's time in Maine.

I'm a bit confused though, weren't all truck frames painted thoroughly when the truck was assembled? How do they rust so easy? You'd think the manufacturer would treat them to resist rust?

I understand that maybe the everyday spray of grit and rocks from driving might wear off the paint around the wheels, but all of my frame has rust, even right in the middle between the wheels. Am I to believe the paint was so thin that somehow it has been compromised there too?

  • Would I get in trouble for smuggling a few hundred pounds of Florida beach sand back to my house for a sandbox?

I know some beaches probably have strict rules about this, but considering how plentiful white beach sand is in Florida, would it be a problem if I loaded up a few big totes and made a few trips out at night? I live in the Destin area, sand aplenty.

  • Best deal for downloading high quality music?

Yes I've always downloaded music free, but I've noticed the quality and volume level is all over the place with the free stuff.

I'm hoping to find like a subscription based service that let's me download like unlimited 320kbps content.

I tried Google Play and the quality is good, but apparently you have to pay $9.99 a month to ACCESS the music, then in order to physically download it you have to pay an additional fee per song. Plus I guess you can only download to a few devices and you have to be signed into your account just to listen to it.

Why is this so difficult? Does nobody offer unlimited TRUE downloads for a monthly fee?

  • Why such a wide price range for private party sale?

I'm looking to buy a used Ford Ranger, I priced it as close to accurate as I could on KBB, NADA, and Edmunds TMV.

KBB says about $7,000 for fair condition, and a little over 8 grand for realy good condition.

TMV seems to be the lowballer at around $3,500 in average condition.

And NADA says between $5,600 and $7,100 trade in range, I didn't see a private party value option.

Why is there such a crazy price range between the 3? I know KBB tends to be a tad high these days, but should I just average the three so I know what to offer the guy?

  • What would happen to a new sportbike if stored in an outdoor storage unit for 6 months?

I bought a 2013 Ninja in Florida last November. Unfortunately I had to return overseas in a hurry and didn't have time to winterize it. I know it had at least half a tank of gas when I left it. I put it in an outdoor mini storage unit and left.

I'm sure the battery's dead and the tires may need some air, but what other issues can I expect to encounter? Would the gas get too bad to run it? Any tips? I'm probably gonna need a battery booster to fire it up.

  • Why is my drinking glass always sticky after a few cold drinks?

I understand the concept of condensation, but this is weird. No matter how clean my glass is before I pour drinks, no matter how clean my hands are before I pour drinks, it never fails, every time I have a few glasses of cold spiked soda, somehow the outside of the glass always gets a little sticky after. Does this have to do with condensation? Or is there some other weird explanation for this? It s not like I m messy or I spill or anything.

  • Internet speed is fast, yet everything still loads slow?

I'm in South Korea. I just did a speed test and got 25.25 Mbps down and 9.57 Mbps up. Yet somehow everything still loads slow as sh*t. It's not just my computer. My phone is slow, my tablet is slow, I haven't noticed my new HP laptop to be as slow but then again I don't use it much.

Sometimes it's to the point my freakin streaming XM radio will even get interrupted. What the F?

Is there something I can do figure out what's slowing it down? I've reset the router multiple times and I can't tell any appreciable difference when I do.

My devices even lose their connection completely sometimes for about 30 seconds. And if I'm not actively using the connection it will just stop in the middle of the night and I have to wait for the devices to reconnect to it.

  • Would you say it s better to buy a Trek bike in the U.S. or Korea?

I m in the market for a Trek with disc brakes, and I m currently stationed in Korea. I visited the local bike shop here and they will sell me a new Trek ( I think it was a 2015 model) with hydraulic disc brakes for $520~.

I noticed Trek doesn t make the 3700 anymore, only 3500 and Marlin series. I m not exactly sure which this was that he showed me.

My concern is, I come back to the states in a few months, and I m debating if it s worth it to buy a bike here or back in Florida. I don t know what kind of deals or service schedules are usually offered by Trek dealers stateside, and unfortunately I m not able to call up and ask right now.

I don t know if anyone is familiar with Treks overseas, but if you have any knowledge of the differences, I d appreciate it.

  • How do I encourage my girlfriend to develop healthier habits?

I met this girl online bout 8 months ago, she's cute, we ended up Skyping for like 6 hours every weekend because I'm stationed elsewhere at the moment. I went to visit her for a few weeks. This is where I started to notice her lifestyle. She doesn't seem to have any willpower and it kind of annoys me.

While I was there she was constantly pressuring me to go eat out with her, and she doesn't seem to realize how unhealthy she eats, and to be blatantly honest, it kind of shows. On top of that she's always broke yet she will go eat McDonald's every day rather than save her money.

I feel like I'm starting to lose my attraction to her because she just doesn't seem to care, either about her body or about her finances. I've been as subtle about it as I can be and I even got in an argument about it when I was there but it just doesn't sink in to her. She always complains about not being able to pay bills and saying "birth control is making her fat" and I just don't know how to inspire her to do better.

On top of that, she's fallen head over heels for me and is scared I won't feel the same, so of course I feel bad because I wish she'd change. I really like her but I don't know what to do I know that if she keeps making excuses for herself she'll never develop the discipline to workout regularly and learn how to manage her money.

  • How can I overcome the urge to vomit when I go down on my girlfriend?

I'm not some teenager but I've always had issues with oral sex. I've tried and I want to please her but every time she nudges my head down there it's all I can do not to gag and puke when I lick and suck her. Why do you think this is? What can I do about it? I want us both to enjoy it but I feel like it's a chore and I know most every girl expects it nowadays or they're off to the next guy.

  • Free software to design a home and create materials list?

I know there are several websites that let you design floorplans, but are there any that will let me design a project home in 3D, and picture the studs and what not required for such project?

Surely there must be programs that let you input dimensions and such and automatically generate a materials list no? I'm trying to get a rough idea how much a certain structure will cost to build.

Obviously it's just a ballpark amount, but I intend to do the work myself, so I'm just trying to compile a materials list.

  • Legal to rent out a home I built myself in Florida?

So, I was really excited about building my own small home in the Panama City area, then I ran across a regulation in the building code, something along the lines of owner/builder cannot sell the home if it was built without a contracting license. Seemed a bit strange to, but I guess it's for liability reasons, I don't know.

However, I failed to see anything prohibiting said owner/builder to rent it out later on. Does anyone have experience with this or similar situation in Florida that maybe they could help clarify this? I'd simply call, but I'm overseas right now. Thanks.

  • Should I consider buying a home if I'm military? More specific details below.?

I'm 30, I have a 750 credit score, and I'm active duty military. I'm PCSing to the Panama City/Fort Walton Beach Florida area next summer. I know I'll be there 5 years or more.

Up until now I've been renting, but the rental choices are somewhat limited in that part of Florida unless you want a trashy doublewide or some crappy apartment older than I am. I prefer something nice, so I was looking into buying as the choices are much newer construction and cheaper mortgage payments than renting. Not to mention it'd be mine.

The question is, would it be wise to buy a home being in the military? I don't think I'll be deployed a lot considering my assignment, but I was just wondering if anyone else had any advice either for or against buying? I'd love to get some others' experience and/or lessons learned related to this. Thanks.

  • Does a 200 heart rate when running merit concern?

I'm male, 30 years old, bout 217 lbs and 6'2. I'm about 25% bodyfat. I run sometimes between about 3-6 miles on the treadmill. Today I did a 10K in 51:20 and I checked my heart rate at the end and it was 200. I usually see 185-190 pretty regularly after runs, but last few times have hit 200.

I check it when I first step on the treadmill as well and it's usually 125-135. I've verified it with my heart rate monitor as well. During deep sleep I get down to 70 or so BPM, but when I'm awake it's never under 100.

    Does this sound normal?

  • How close can a structure typically be to the edge of the lot?

I'm nowhere near the process of building a home, or even owning the lot, but I'm in the "dreaming" stage, designing floorplans etc.

The home will be located in Panama City, FL. I've been looking at lots, and there seem to be a lot of long, narrow ones, usually 45-50 feet wide.

Wouldn't be an issue if I didn't have to have a 2 car garage attached. So, I'm trying to get a ballpark idea how close to the property line an occupied structure is allowed to be. Obviously, I could research it and call half a dozen people, but I figured it'd be faster to get some, at least general, idea here. Thanks.
