why does windows not have separate permissions?
it seems like practically everything(even running some applications) require elevation in windows- to that point,it becomes almost pointless to even have a standard role. did Microsoft think it would be too confusing to give users more than 2 levels?

There are more than two levels: guest, restricted (limited) user, standard (power) user, backup operator, network operator, etc.
