How to preserve a snake?

I found a recently deceased snake (small 8 inches tops) at a park. I would like to preserve it for a science area. I read online I could put it in rubbing alcohol in a glass jar. Would this be okay? Suggestions appreciated. Although, I would have this sealed shut it would be around kids so my options are somewhat limited as to what I can use. Thanks!

You have to fix the specimen first and be sure that the fixative (and then the preservative) can get to the internal organs. Cut through the body wall where the ventral scutes meet the smaller scales. Cut on the right side if you want it to look professional. Put it into the fixative first. If you can get formalin, dilute it with 9 parts of water to 1 part of formalin. If you can't get that, try 95% rubbing alcohol. Walmart and RiteAid carry it. After a week, wash off the formalin and transfer the snake to 70% alcohol.

I wouldn't use rubbing alcohol, it will dehydrate it. If you can find Formaldehyde and fill a jar that will work.

I think that rubbing alcohol would work fine.
