solutions to a work dress code problem?

I work at a dry cleaners during the summer and it's can get EXTREMELY hot in there because of the heat outside and the dry cleaner machine. There is no air conditioning due to the heat that the dry cleaner machine produces. I have to wear things that come down to my knee at all times. I would wear dresses everyday, but u ride my bike there, so do you have any suggestions for clothes that I can wear that will keep me cool and also let me be able to ride my bike. I have tried buying shorts that come down to my knee, but they're $17 each! Please help! Thank you!!

I agree with wearing leggings or shorts under your dress or skirt. You could even wait to put your skirt on when you get there.

As for clothes, try Goodwill. Depending on ten location, you could find good stuff for no more than $5. (I can't stomach paying that much, either.)

  • Wear one thing to ride your bike to work and then change your clothes when you get to work. Wear a nice cool summer dress to work in all day...you'll be much happier! Then, change back to pants to ride home. Carry your extra clothes in a backpack, by the way. Hope this works for you!

  • Wear some biking shorts when your ride your bike and change into a dress or skirt for work.

Maybe some Chaps with Crocs and a fishnet shirt might help, they are very aerodynamic and can keep you cool and move faster while on bike.

How about wearing leggings under your dress while riding your bike, then taking them off when you get to work.
