How to convince my parents to get a dog?

Someone I know is selling their 11 week old american terrier pitbull mix. I really want him but I don't think my parents will let me get him. But I've got the money to pay for him, get him his shots, have him neutered and everything. I also work part time and have plenty of time to care for him and raise him. We already have a dog, but our house is big enough to have two and we have a big field and yard he can run around in. I really want this dog to go to a good home and I think ours would be perfect for him. The dog we have now is friendly and gets along well with other dogs too. I just need a way to convince my parents to let me adopt him.

    Facts:

    - A part time job isn't enough to cover expenses for a dog. Let alone a puppy. Caring for an animal is way more expensive than you think it is. Imagine what could happen should the puppy falls ill or gets attacked by an animal or hit by a car.

    - You're still in school and won't have time for the dog. Focus on school as that's more important than all the wants in the world. You'll have plenty of time to have a dog when you've graduated and moved out.

    - If you're underage (and I'm sure you are), the dog's vet bills will be in your parents' name and not yours. So if your parents want the dog, they will adopt him. Otherwise, forget it. Now's not the time.

Now, how will the rest of us and your parents know you won't get tired of him knowing your maturity level? Anytime kids on here beg for a pet, they usually end up getting tired of the animal and complain.

My advice: If you really want to be around other dogs that badly then consider volunteering at your local animal shelter or veterinary clinic so you can get a sense of responsibility.

Adopt him? You mean BUY this ill bred bully breed mutt. What the **** is an "American Terrier"? There's no such thing. This is just a pit bull mutt and clearly your parents have more sense than you to not what one of these horrific dogs in THEIR home.

How about giving some attention to the dog you already have and surely whined to get? What's the issue? Not a puppy anymore so you no longer care about it? TYPICAL child.

And what happens to the dog when you move out? Its darn near impossible to find housing that will allow a pit mix, which means your parents will get stuck with two dogs.

You have one dog, be greatful, kids are begging to even have one dog. Move out and get the dog yourself, don't be begging your poor parents.

Tell them some facts about the breed.

Like how pit bulls kill 1 person every 13 days in the USA.

    That outta do it.

You don't. And that's Pit bull -Two words.

Their house, their rules, live with it or move out.
