How many people on here actually think that America is a Christian nation built around Christianity?

Update:

Since some people do this that it was, to those who this that it is, it's not. Almost none of the founding fathers were Christian and the US was not built on Christian values, and if you want prof of that, read the The Treaty of Tripoli

Well, the overwhelming majority was Christian, but you also have to bear in mind that Each group had its own denomination. Some colonies were Anglican; some were Reformed or Presbyterian; some regions were Baptist (They were the firebrands in those days. Nothing like what they've become!) and then some were Roman Catholic. George WAshington wrote a letter to a group of Jewish colonists very clearly and firmly stating that they had nothing to fear from their non-Jewish neighbors. The religious freedoms of all would be honored.

We have lots of token signs that come from a broad generic Christian affiliation, but these are things that mean little. A phrase is put on money -- big hairy deal! People swear on a Bible. OH, the humanity!!

Courts like to have the Ten Commandments on their walls, when in fact, most of us do not even understand what these mean, and they are not actually codified into law at all. If you question this, just try to read them for yourself and understand exactly what they actually mean, and you'll see at least one commandment you probably don't know what it means (Hint it certainly does NOT say that you cannot "cuss"), and one commandment that most of us never pay any attention to (or do you abstain from ANY work at all all day on Saturday?)

A Nation is made up of individuals that may or may not be Christian. I think America was founded on Christian principles but no longer is and we are seeing the results. 2 Chronicles 7;14 If my people which are called by my name shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

  • It was illegal to be Catholic in 10 of the original 13 colonies. Does that sound like a nation built on religion?

I think it was built that way since the founders were Christian, but now not so much. It is a free country where we can be any religion still. Maybe that's where they mistake it.

Was, back when we were strong now you can see the illuminati have pretty much taken over, they even have their beloved sign of the "all seeing eye" installed at every intersection (cameras).
