Has Kate Middleton ever worn the same hat out at a public function twice, and where do the old one go?

She rarely wears the same hat twice. She has rented hats in the past and these have then been auctioned for charity. She routinely promotes, mainly, British designers around the world, and either they go back to the milliner to be refashioned/trimmed or are sold off.

She wears a hair net to protect her famous tresses from the oils left on hats by the milliners' fingers and hands.

I imagne any hats Kate Middleton ever owned, have been either recycled, or chucked out.

Often. In fact, the cream hat she recently wore to a garden party had been worn before. She rewears hats often enough that she clearly keeps them around in case they'll work with another outfit.

oh yes, but I think the "make do and mend" mentality, that the royals shared with the people during the wars, comes into play with redundant hats, if she's got a lovely yellow hat she's only worn once, but it no longer goes with anything, she gets her felt tips and marker pens out, and will colour in a beautiful butterfly, or a corgi, or some thing more exotic. they never chuck stuff out, the attic at Buckingham palace is FULL.

No, of course not and such is her wanton nature, has been know to change hats four or five times, at just ONE thirty minute engagement and twice in the car on the way home. Is there no END to her wasteful, extravagant lifestyle? Shoes? Don't get me started on shoes! They come round on a conveyer belt and are changed every four minutes. Knickers? Don't get me started on knickers. She...doesn't wear them!

Yes, she wears articles of clothing more than once. All the royals do.
