Why do people give their children "baby names"?
I feel like a lot of new parents, mainly Millennials, aren't looking out for their children's future when they make them. Everyone think about what's "cute", but they're not thinking about their child in adulthood. If your son is applying for a job in which he has to be taken seriously, little Ryder or baby Bentley may have some trouble. I think people really need to think about their child's future. Sure, your baby will have a "cute" name when they're young, but that baby is going to be an adult one day and they're going to be stuck with a "baby name." Your child's name is not some sort of accessory, it's something that should still make sense in fifty years.

They don't think long term and just how much a name impacts your life some of the names you see hear in the baby names section are absolutely ridiculous the teen moms are the worst offenders .

I guess people name their babies whatever name they love. I do remember my Mom reminding me when both my son's were born that I was naming a person not a baby. I did have some cute names that I liked though to be fair. I think some people use the full name officially and then use a nickname if you want a cute name when the child is little and then the child has the full name to go by when they are older. My name is Elle and I'm in my 30's and my Dad STILL calls me Ellie as a nickname. My Mom wanted to call me Eleanor but my Dad wouldn't hear of it so my Dad gave me a cutesy name, I guess. Hence the advice my Mom gave me when naming my own children.

Because quite often when a female is expecting a child, and particularly if they are 30 plus, the prospect of having a child seems to affect their sensibility to some extend and they become immersed in childish baby talk and idiotic silly whimpering conversations as though just having escaped from a kindergarden. Why this takes place is unknown but it is very noticeable under such circumstances.. Some sort of hormonal mental aberration is the obvious answer, but after the birth sanity seems to slowly return, but it is most disturbing at the time.

Actually people have been doing that for a long time, but then those "cutesy" names end up sounding normal to the next generation, and dated and "old" to the generation after that. If you go back just about 70 years, there were tons of people with cutesy names like Billy instead of William, Jack instead of John, Sue instead of Susan, Judy instead of Judith, which all seem normal to us now but were quite improper for the time.
Not that I'm fond of many of the "cute" names today either, I just don't think it will cause any serious problems for them in the future, with kids being named such a wide variety of names now especially.

Hmm... I do see where you are coming from but then you used the name Bentley as an example and then I kind of disagreed with that. I had always planned to use the name Bentley if I have a boy. Not just because I think the name is cute, but because it would mean something special to both me and my fiance. (We would probably just end up calling him by Ben as a nickname)

?????.... Maybe they use the names that people recommend on this forum.... People can't name their kids on their own , they need total STRANGERS for help ... SUSAN has probably tried to name 1000 's of them alone .... but I agree with you .🤓

I get what you're saying, but I don't know why people do it other than to be unique

It is one of the consequences of the many teens believing they are grown up enough to be parents. Eh scratch that, many adults aren't gown up enough either.
