Does anyone know the song by the band Crow, that Spirit used for the song Taurus?
Seeing as the the lawsuit by Spirit is going forward now, I've listened to Taurus and heard a LOT of similarity there, and can see where Page might have gotten the basic idea from for the opening part of Stairway. But as a pro guitarist, I also heard a lot of differences..he didn't play the exact same chords, although the finger picking style was very close. Taurus has a descending chord pattern, While Page's riff goes up and then down, and has the similar sound ,Tuarus did not have the quick F and Am chord accent at the end of the riff...it had an extended D chord... Now I can see the similarities, sure, but also the differences...you wanna hear total plagarism? Twist And Shout and La Bamba!!! all you need to do is change the lyrics, and take out the extended Ah Ah Ah AHHHHH!! My band used to do La Bamba but also mixed in Twist and Shout, too and we didn't even have to cahnge strumming patterns!!!!!!!
What I want to know is the song that Spirit is supposed to have taken inspiration from by the band Crows..
I hope the court either gets sheet music from both songs or testimony from other pro musicians that can testify the things I talked about.. Rock music has always been a bit plagaristic..a lot of riffs can be heard that are similar to other songs...
I've been playing guitar for 47 years and have been performing in public since 1971...(I know some people here resent that I actually speak from true experience)
But I'm looking for a serious answer for this....really!

Why hate on rap and its fans when you can hate on whiny, mainstream pop-punk and the crowd-following teens that love it? Can you think of a pop-punk song that's better than the rap classic "It Ain't Nuttin' But Music"?

Yo, Russell. I grew up in the Midwest, and, as a young player, loved Crow, from the "twin cities", but can't recall any of their songs. Had kind of a biker thing going, as I recall. My LP's were stolen, and the band is hard to run down on Youtube, but I'll see what I can find - got me curious. Later on that.
I think the litigation is an over-reach and grab for money by Spirit. Yes, there are many tunes which share some progressions, patterns, a few riffs, etc. Ditto your observation on LaBamba & Twist & Pout. Sometimes it was even more blatant, like Buddy Holly's Peggy Sue, then Tommy Roe's Sheila.

Sometimes, it was just a total rip-off, vis Little Richard's Tutti-Fruitti, then Pat Boone's "pale" version.
