What type of association are you currently residing? Are you the owner of the unit in the association complex?

Do you need to obtain the permission of the association to have exterior work performed? If you are required to obtain a permit you would need to engage the services of a licensed electrician.

In order to install this type of electrical outlet, are you required to obtain a permit from the city?

Normally a licensed electrician would charge you in the neighborhood of $60.00 an hour and up. You would be required to call a local licensed electrician to come and give you an estimate of the cost. In most instances you would be charged for an electrician to come and provide you an estimate.

If you use the licensed electrician that provided the estimate, normally the estimate would be deducted from the total cost of the repairs

If you are not concerned with permits and permission from the association, there are many handy people that would do the job for you at a lot less than a licensed person and do a great job.

You would have to contact one of these handy person to perform the work. Keep in mind this person would not apply for and get a city permit, nor would this person get permission from your association.

This person would install the outside electrical outlet.

This decision would be yours to make.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

Electricians in my area average $50 per hour. Companies charge up to $90 per hour. Could take up to 2 hours. Best to hire an individual or owner / operator. Be sure they're licensed with your state and / or city as code requirements vary. Check with your HOA to see if you are allowed to have that outside socket. Does anyone else have one?

Too many variables. Is there wiring there already? A circuit with enough space to safely add it? How much and where would the electrician need to jerk wire from?

Not easy to answer. Is there an electric supply wire near where you want that outlet ? Is your building brick or similar ? The required electrical parts are not overly pricey, but the labor involved to get the electricity to your desired location can vary greatly.

Housing association means that you are renting. You cannot add this as you do not own the property.

Whether you are a tenant or an owner, you cannot install anything on the exterior

    of the condo building.
