What is going on with the terminator timeline?
I just recently saw terminator genisys and now I am very confused. Three major questions come up...
1. Who sent the guardian to Sarah Connor?
2. Why did the date skynet becomes self aware change from 1997 to 2017?
3. The movie shows that skynet used the time machine to send the terminator back to 1984. Then skynet was destroyed except for the 1 embodiment of it. So how did the other terminators come back? Did that 1 guy start manufacturing them? And if so, who sent the guardian back, because skynet obviously wouldn't have done that and Conner was already transformed...
I am so confused...

1. Hasn't been revealed yet, could well be Sarah herself, sending 'Pops' back in time to ensure her own survival.
2. Probably because of all the changes in the past, with random people/cyborgs popping up from nowhere.
3. It's confusing because of the time-travel aspect, with all the loops, no discernible origin for the info many characters provide to others and no 'original' beginning.
For example, Kyle only goes back in time because of the info John provides and Sarah raises and trains John due to what Kyle revealed about his future and the person John will become.
