My girlfriend was hitting me so I snapped and hit her back?

Hi

Basically my girlfriend and I had a bit of an argument and I packed my stuff and said I'm leaving going home.

She went crazy, stormed up to me and started slapping me hard on the side of my head. Pinching scratching and biting me. Throttling me at my neck. At first I held her wrists to restrain her and said get off me let me go.

She kept following me around the room. She then slapped me very hard on the side of my head and pinched my arm hard that it scratched deeply so I lashed out and punched her in the face. It wasn't a full on punch more of a scuff. It didn't leave a mark just a slight bit of pinkness.

I have deep cuts on my arm. Should I feel bad about this? I feel terrible but she started hitting me first a lot and I gave her 5-10 mins to stop it.

I'm a girl so I have to say, there is nothing wrong with hitting us in self-defence. You did the right thing, but make sure you talk to her after and explain why you did so.

you won't get in any legal trouble if she was hitting you first. honestly if she was hitting you, you should break up witth her, it sounds like an unhealthy relationship and that she's a b*tch.

not wise.. try to control your anger.. being angry is fine.. but what u do with it matters, a split second response can change your life or hers.. this is life.. be careful with it.. even if you dont really mess her up... it could land u in jail..u wanna sing jail house blues? no you dont.. yu like freedom..
