Are cable modems compatible with DSL Internet?
My Westell modem (I got from Verizon, now Frontier Communications) is about 13 years old. Age & internal heat have taken their toll on the modem.
Its also connected to a Belkin WiFi router. The router is about 6 years old. It might be time to replace it as well.
Cable & FIOS internet are just not on my budget.
Do cordless phones and appliances still interfere with newer routers?
I been looking at Walmart and all I see are Cable Modems? There are also some all in one modems and routers.
Whats the best location for a modem & router? I live in a small house, but my Belkin router gets interference from the frequencies of the cordless phones, refrigerator, & neighboring wifi networks.

Personally, I'd go for a combo modem and router. The fewer devices, the less that can go wrong. Get a decent one if possible - the max you can afford. Cordless phones, etc. should be operating on a different frequency. Theoretically, if you got another Belkin, you could possibly use your current one elsewhere in your place as a second wifi port, assuming you live in a big house or apartment. Another option might be to source a 'pre-loved' one from a dealer, but they have limited guarantees.

No. If you have DSL get a proper DSL modem/router. If not get a cable router.
